Please donate your blood platelets!

Andy is going through a lot of blood transfusions and blood platelet treatments. He’ll be needing more throughout this process so that he may go through treatments.

Blood platelets are needed and are sometimes low in stock and very expensive. We’re asking everyone to donate blood platelets. It’s just like donating plasma, where the blood goes out, platelets are extracted and then the blood is put back in the body without the platelets. It’s not a painful experience, but will make you cold so wear warm clothes!

Let the blood bank know you’re donating to Andy by providing his full name (Andrew A. Zorn) and his patient number (809350).

Sooo much info out there about “platelet donation”, but here is something interesting about directing donations to Andy:

DR. Name and Ofc #: (I don’t know this info)
Somehow, I think the above information will be sufficient, without dr. name…but I’ll make sure of this.

Want to know WHY platelet donation is soooo much better than a blood donation?

ONE PLATELET DONATION IS EQUAL TO:

***** platelets derived from SIX WHOLE BLOOD DONATIONS*****
******so the benefit is that ANDY is exposed to FEWER donors!!!

But since platelets only have a shelf life of five days, donors are needed continuously.
So, DON’T worry if you can’t donate today….just DONATE whenever you can!!!

It’s all for you, ANDY! BLOOD IS LIFE! We are sending LIFE to Andy through our donations!!!

Randy’s place of employment, WRS, is sponsoring the time for employees who would like to donate platelets to go to the blood bank and donate on your behalf. Those of us able to donate are making appointments today to see how quickly we can get in.
